Fasts and mono-diets can be one of the most powerful ways of detoxifying your body, allowing it the time and material necessary to recover. Fasting has been considered one of the healthiest curative and preventative measures a human can take, for thousands of years across a wide spectrum of cultures. During fasting your body metabolizes and expels imbedded toxins, and gets a chance to rebalance all your major and minor systems. Think of fasting as giving your body an opportunity to do some spring cleaning.
True fasts involve absolutely no solid foods, just liquids. Only high quality liquids (namely purified water, fruit and vegetable juices) constitute a healthy fast. So don't think I'm telling you if you go out and only drink Dr. Pepper for the next three days your skin will clear up.

If you've never fasted before, you might find it easiest to start out with a mono-diet first. Some of the most popular and effective mono-diets consist of only eating whole, raw, organic apples, cucumbers, grapes, watermelon, etc.
Juice fasting involves drinking only fruit and vegetable juices over the fasts' duration. Some recommend limiting your fruit juice consumption due to the high level of natural sugars found in juice. While these sugars normally are not a huge concern, when you're specifically attempting to cleanse your body it might be best to deprive candida and other parasites of food they can thrive on.
Water fasts are the final type of fast, and are more controversial than the mono-diet or the juice-fast. Water fasting involves eating nothing, and drinking nothing other than purified water. Unlike juice-fasting, this deprives your body of a regular vitamin and mineral flow, which can be dangerous over long periods of time. Proponents say that water fasting provides the most powerful and thourough whole body cleansing possible. Detractors say its intensity is un-necessary and dangerous...
